Foundation Recommendations

Nov 12, 2025

If I had £1 for every time I was asked what foundation I would recommend I would be living on a remote island sipping cocktails right now 😂

When it comes to foundation, personal recommendation is great as long as you are getting a full picture of what that foundation is like. Everyone's skin is different not to mention personal preferences on things like finish, coverage, matte or dewy etc.

So I thought I would do a list of my personal favourite foundations and who I would recommend them for. These are not in any particular order and these are just my personal favourites.

Loreal Infallible Freshwear

Around £11.99

Inexpensive - Lightweight - Good Coverage

This formula is great if you are looking for something with medium to full coverage that doesn't feel too heavy on the skin. The finish is a nice balance as it's slightly more of a Satin finish (think satin finish wood paint) so it's not dewy but it's not totally matte either.

It is supposedly transfer proof and water-proof but in all honesty no foundation is transfer proof in my personal opinion so I am surprised they (along with a lot of other brands) are making that statement.

Who would like it? Normal to Dry skin/ slightly oily. someone that wants lightweight feel to foundation with good coverage at an affordable everyday price. If you have oily skin you would probably want to use a setting powder with this.

YSL All Hours

Around £30-£36

More Pricey - Little heavier feel - Full Coverage

This is my current favourite foundation! It is a full coverage foundation they call a breathable formula.

They say it has a 24 hour full coverage but again I don't personally like when brands use this term as it is very dependant on the person wearing it skin type as to how long the foundation will last, for instance oily skin will break down the foundation much quicker than someone with a "normal" skin type.

The foundation is infused with hyauluronic acid and although I wouldn't personally say it's going to add hydration to your skin it will prevent the foundation from absorbing as much moisture and drying your skin out so if you have dryer skin this will be an added benefit.

This foundation has what they call a luminous matte finish meaning it has a similar amount of sheen as natural skin. It's not really dewy and it's not really matte either. It's very similar to a satin finish and looks very pretty on the skin hence it being my current favourite.

Who would like it? Most skin types, someone that doesn't want matte or dewy finish to the skin and would prefer something in-between that doesn't soak up the skins hydration and doesn't feel heavy on the skin but still delivers a full coverage and doesn't mind splurging a little on foundation.

Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint - Combination/Oily

Around £12.99

Inexpensive - Light weight

OK so this one is technically a skin tint but the coverage is far beyond a standard skin tint and is leaning more foundation.

This is a really thin and lightweight formula but as I mentioned above really good coverage for a skin tint.

It's a natural radiant, skin like finish, A

As it says in the name it is "Super Stay" so really long lasting. I would say if you have oily, normal or combination skin you would be fine, dry skin might even be ok with this one but if you have very dry skin, I personally think this one might be a little too clinging for you. That can unfortunately be the case with Super Long Lasting foundations, they are long lasting because they cling to the skin which can cause issues if you have dryer, flakier areas.

Who would like it?: Oily/Combination/Normal/Dry skin types that like a Lightweight natural finish with medium coverage.

Haus Labs Foundation

More Pricey - Lightweight - Medium Coverage - Dewy Finish

This foundation is super glowy and really really pretty on the skin. I will say however, If you have really enlarged pores or a lot of skin texture.... you probably won't like this one as it tends to enhance that. I am embracing my pores and skin texture so I wear it regardless but if that isn't something you can do you might want to give it a miss.

Who would like it?: Dryer complexions, anyone that likes a dewy finish with medium coverage with very little skin texture, i.e. stretched pores etc.

Well, that's my current round up of favourites HOWEVER....I've just had 2 new ones delivered to test out and 1 in particular I am very hopeful for so I will keep you posted.

Hope that helps

Much Love
